SBI Latest News: SBI, the country’s largest public sector bank, has announced a minimum balance rule for customers’ accounts. Accordingly, if the customer does not have a minimum balance before the date on which the Minimum Balance and Message Charge are released, the amount must be paid to the bank.
SBI tweeted about the information
In a tweet, SBI said, ‘If there is a minimum balance and the amount you have to pay before the date the bank announces that the news fee will not be charged, please remember to pay that fee.’ That said.
Through this tweet, State Bank of India (SBI Customers) has been told by the customer that even if the customer does not have the minimum balance in the account before the specified date, there is a fee to be paid to the bank in this regard. That means the customer needs to focus on their minimum presence.

What SBI said
The minimum balance in a bank is called the ‘average monthly balance’ or AMB. SBI announced last year that the average minimum balance of all Savings Accounts would be waived. As per the rules, AMB savings account in metro cities was fixed at Rs 3,000, AMB in semi-urban areas at Rs 2,000 and AMB in rural areas at Rs 1,000. Previously, if the minimum balance was not taken into account, Rs.5-15 and GST would be charged.
SMS charges are also free
On March 11, 2020, State Bank announced that the average monthly balance or AMB would be deducted. That is, the bank said that even if the customer does not have a minimum balance in the account, he does not have to pay any penalties. In addition, SBI also waived SMS charges. But customers were confused about this. Therefore, the bank has clarified that the amount already outstanding should be paid.
