New Delhi : If you are also an SBI customer and your debit card is lost or stolen, it needs to be blocked as soon as possible. Most of the time the card is transacted without the card even when it is with you, so even in such a case the card should be blocked immediately. SBI, the country’s largest bank, has released a video on its Twitter handle for its 44 crore customers. In which the whole process of card blocking is explained step by step.

1. Call the toll free number

The fastest way to block your SBI debit card is to call the bank’s toll free number 1800 11 2211 or 1800 425 3800. You will be given some instructions on the toll free number. You can block the card by following this.

2. Block via Net Banking

>> Login to www.onlinesbi.com with your username and password.
>> In the ‘E-Services’ tab, under ‘ATM Card Services’, select ‘Block ATM Cards’.
>> Select the account associated with the debit card.
>> All active and blocked cards will be shown. You see the first 4 and last 4 digits of the card.
>> Select the reason for blocking the card along with the card you want to block. The reason can be selected from the dropdown menu. Then click on ‘Submit’.
>> Check the details and make sure. Once the card is blocked, there is no option to unblock via internet facility.
>> Choose the method of authentication. This can be OTP or profile password via SMS.
>> Enter the OTP / Profile password in the required box. Then click on Confirm.
>> When the card is successfully blocked, a message with ticket number will appear. Keep for future reference.

3. Block by sending SMS

You can also block your ATM card by sending an SMS. To block your ATM card you need to send block XXXX to 567676. Here are the last 4 digits of the XXXX debit card number. Send SMS from the mobile number registered in the bank account. After receiving the SMS from the bank, you will be sent a confirmation SMS. The SMS alert will include the ticket number, block date and time.

4. Visit the bank branch

The bank officer can request to block his debit card by going to the nearest branch.
