The State Bank of India (SBI) has notified account holders to link their PAN-Aadhaar card by September 30th. Banks further say that without links, it will be difficult to enjoy seamless banking services.
“We encourage our customers to link PAN to Aadhaar to avoid inconvenience and continue to enjoy seamless banking services,” SBI said in a tweet.
The tweet also states that the PAN and Aadhaar links are required. If PAN and Aadhaar are not linked, PAN will be inactive and cannot be estimated to execute the specified transaction. The last day to link PAN and Aadhaar is September 30, 2021.
According to Section 139AA of the Income Tax Act of 1961, anyone who is assigned a PAN and is eligible to obtain an Aadhaar number must notify the Income Tax Authority of the Aadhaar number.
Otherwise, PAN will not work until the date the Aadhaar number is notified or linked. The deadline for linking Aadhaar and PAN has been extended to September 30th.
